I'm in love with a new piece of software, called EverNote that Trisha told me about. It captures all your notes, to do lists, book notes, passwords, project lists or any other thing you may have a on a piece of paper or sticky note.

And it is so easy. You can grab text and pictures from web sites, Word documents, and Outlook. You can search for the note you want. You can make categories. You can even draw with it.

I've had a couple programs to I tried to use to put all my notes together, but it was always a pain because they weren't meant for what I wanted to do.

Did I mention it's free? So, download it and give it a whirl.

Today my doll has graduated from elementary school. They had a little ceremony, something they didn't have for us at that age. Their teachers gave them each rewards for their unique talents. Like bookworm for those that read a lot and well. And silly ones like the 'I didn't do it' award.

Brea got one for "A friend of the natural world." When her teacher said, "She loves all of nature and is often seen with a bug in her hand," everyone said Brea right away. The second award was for "Most likely to be in a production of Cats," due to her creative writing stories usually with cats as the main character and her cat imitation.

We love you Brea, and are proud of you.

I am having fun making some reminders for myself at Falling Awake. I have one for pray about the time I am usually starting to stress. And a reminder to stretch. And one for calling my Mom.

I was walking my 10 year-old daughter to school. We get almost to the school and I say, "Let me know when you are ready and you can walk the rest of the way by yourself."

"Mom, I've been ready since we left our house."

Seeing the twinge of hurt, she comforted me saying, "I only meant that I am old enough to walk by myself. I don't mind walking with you." Taking my hand she walks with me to the corner where I wave her off to school.

I still remember the day we moved into this house when she was in kindergarten. I was crossing the street after parking the car over there out of the way. She saw me and got so excited she starts running right for me - into traffic. I lunge and grab her as a pick up truck screeches to a stop before us.

She hasn't run into traffic for a few years now. Only about a week left of walking kids to school. Next year her and her brother will be in the same school and they can walk together. And I will wave from the doorway instead.

I had bananas ready for banana bread. But, each day I said I didn't have enough time. The day came where I had to make banana bread or there would be no more bananas to use. After 5 minutes the bread was in the oven. 10 minutes later everything was cleaned up. I was shocked that it only took that long and I thought it would take so much longer. Lesson learned. Hopefully.

Saturday I went on an adventure with my friend, Marie. She said her brother, who is a music teacher, raved about this band that was in town. We had never heard of the band, Brave Combo, which billed itself as a cross between polka, jazz, rock, and tex-mex. I found out later they won the Grammy for best polka album.

We drove downtown Grand Rapids to this little bar where I got carded at the door. But, once they started playing I knew I was going to like them. They have a great energy. You really want to dance and I did on one song. And they really know how to play their instruments.

I had a work project I was going to do. But, when I got home I was locked out. I had taken off my house key so I could just slip it in my purse when I was out for the evening. My husband was asleep because he works third shift as an engineer.

I wanted him to be able to sleep - so change of plans. I went to Applebees for some teriyaki shrimp then spent a couple hours at Barnes and Noble browsing books. I was actually disappointed when my husband replied to my message saying he was awake and I could come home. I spent a few more minutes relaxing before I came home. Just what I needed.

"Every man should periodically be compelled to listen to opinions which are infuriating to him. To hear nothing but what is pleasing to one is to make a pillow of the mind."
- St. John Ervine

From John Maxwell's newsletter.

I find it fasinating hearing other people's take on things. I prefer listening more than talking. As they say - I already know what I know and think. It troubles me when people become so hard nosed about their own opinion that they no longer can listen to the knowledge of others. Let's all listen today, especially to someone who has a vastly different opinion than our own.

My irises are blooming so lovely in the backyard. I like to walk around the backyard a little when I come home from running errands or picking up the kids. I'm amazed at the differences one day can make in my flower garden. And I don't want to miss the day a flower is at its most gorgeous. I think flowers are so fleeting so we can remember to enjoy this present moment. We can't wait until "later" for a flower. There is no later. Only right now to take in its beauty.

It may seem like a little thing, but I was so excited to be swimming underwater tonight. Usually I have my contacts on so I don't risk having them pop out of my eye in the water. I stay away from too much splashing and never put my face in the water. But, today my eyes were itchy from allergies. I wore my glasses to the pool, laying them on my towel. I swam underwater for the first time in years. Memories burst in on me as I tried things I used to do like rolls, handstands, and diving for rings. I am beaming happy this evening.

I've been looking for the perfect jacket for awhile now. I found some almost perfect ones when I went shopping with my sister over Mother's Day weekend. But, I really didn't want to settle. I had too many clothes in my closet that I settled for. Not this time.

So my husband took my daughter and I shopping in Grand Rapids and I finally found the jacket. In the kid's section.

I was talking with a client recently about hobbies and things she loves to do. At first she couldn't remember that she did any hobbies. But, she now recalls some fun things she used to love to do. Time to bring them back.

After a few weeks of too much work and too little play I am ready to bring back the fun. I'm planning on finishing my novel, planting my garden which was just tilled today, taking pictures of my irises, doing a couple of scrapbook pages, playing some tunes on the piano and getting outside for some biking, hiking and tennis.

I am also very blessed that my other passions of writing, designing and personal development are blended in with my work.

What are your passions? When are you going to do one of them?

If you have young children these activity calendars from Enchanted learning are fun:
http://www.enchantedlearning.com/activitycalendars/.

I got to see my son march in his first parade for band. It rained all morning but stopped just for the parade. The rain had cooled the air so the people marching didn't get so warm. Especially with all those Dutch costumes.

Went to visit my Mom and Grandma for Mother's Day weekend. I really enjoyed a shopping and chatting time with my sister. My Mom was planning on cooking a pot roast at Grandma's request. But, she ended up with the flu, so Dad and I cooked it. Not the best meal any of us have had before. Neither one of us ever cooked pot roast before :)

If you are clearing out and decluttering (and I hope you are, it's a continuous process of letting go to make room for the new), Karen Kingston in her book Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui has us ask three questions.

As you look as an object ask:

1. Does it lift my energy when I think about it or look at it?

2. Do I absolutely love it?

3. Is it genuinely useful and do I use it?

I love that first question. Tracking your energy is one of the most personal and one of the best ways you get to the core of yourself. You may think you need to keep something, but if you feel tired every time you see it, is it best for your environment?

And this works for more than just clutter. If you are looking to where you want to spend your time, your goal will be to spend the most time on things that give you energy. If you are trying to find out what is important to you, look to your energy.

If you are finding nothing gives you energy, first go to the doctor to check for a medical problem or depression and secondly think back to the last time you were energetic. What were you doing? Try bringing this into your current life by moving aside an activity that drains your energy. Bring in music for an evening and throw out a TV show. Start writing again, if that is your passion, an evening a week instead of sitting through a meeting you don't need to be at.

The times you need to do an energy draining activity, cushion it with something that makes your energy soar. After struggling with homework, play outside in nature with your kids. After paying bills, connect with a friend.

I think I just got off on a tangent here :)

I just got my The Automatic Millionaire Workbook by David Bach. Much of his ideas are simple - do automatic savings, automatically pay bills, etc. Learn to live on what you actually make.

In the back he mentions his web site so I had to visit. This month's newsletter is on Social Security Reform. Wow, this is an informative article without all the political rhetoric.

He also has some great worksheets to get you started on your finances.
