The sun shone and it was the warmest it's been in five months - 68 degrees F. You couldn't keep me inside if you tried! My Kid's Hope kid and I did the walk program at school. The kids walk around the building for sticks, punches and shoelaces. I love to see programs that get the kids moving.

After the kids got home from school we went to the park. I played for a bit and read in the sunshine. My daughter was giving me lots of hugs and my son was giving me jellybeans. They both are generous souls. The time at the park wasn't enough, so they went bike riding while I cooked dinner. They were fast asleep by 8:30 they wore themselves out so much.

This week I have been putting my top 3 business to do's and top 3 personal to do's on a post it note on the computer so I can keep aware of my priorities. Seeing the smaller list, while knowing the big list is in Outlook, keeps me more relaxed I think.

Easter was a lovely weekend. The kids sang for Easter Sunday service. I was able to join in singing the Hallelujah Chorus. With my other church responsibilities I don't get to sing in the choir at the moment. I really miss it. Soon, I hope to be able to join again. I was so thankful for the chance to sing in the choir today.

Easter dinner was at my in-laws. And the kids hunted out in their back yard for eggs.

Last night we all enjoyed watching Finding Neverland. I've always nurtured creativity and let my kids know it is o.k. to be different. The message of staying young at heart with a sense of adventure was in my mind as I drifted off to sleep.

In the morning what should I read but a passage on adventure in Julia Cameron's Walking in this World. And the quote from the author of Peter Pan, James M Barrie, "To die will be an awfully big adventure."

According to Julia, Adventure is a "nutrient not a frivolity." Have you noticed that those who seem most alive are those who take risks, have fun and keep their sense of adventure? If you have become a little too rigid and disciplines, Julia suggests starting with small adventures like horseback riding, planning a pretend vacation or improvising on the piano.

Wanting perfection so much, some don't take as many risks or do much improvising. Most of us prefer practice and mastery - taking all the joy out of it.

So today I tried to keep adventure in mind. I walked to the store instead of driving noticing all the details along the way. I dyed two cracked eggs. I read a magazine I never had before. I took a little risk with my husband that brought us even closer together. I decided not to die of mortification when my sister-in-law stopped by early in the morning while I was still walking to the store and before I did any morning chores. I decided worrying about a popcorn bowl in the middle of the living room floor probably doesn't rank high on the list of terrible things. These risks seem so tiny, but I am just getting started!

I had the best time yesterday. Kid's Hope had a skating party with all the kids and mentors. I put on skates for the first time in years and I was never all that great to begin with. I was good enough to teach my mentee how to skate. By the end he had enough confidence to try the races.

His hope and enthusiasm is contagious. He got a head start and still lost, but got a free pop for being last. So he was beaming.

What can you try today?

A friend was asking how to speed up her computer. I thought I would share it with others:

1. I would try running adaware:http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
2. Run Spybot Search and Destroy: http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10289035.html?tag=price
3. Run a virus scan (if you want a free one you can go here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp)
4. Disk defrag and check disk (Go to my computer, right click on your hard drive, Click Properties, Click Tools and you will find check now and defrag now.)

These should be done regularly, at least monthly, ideally weekly.

I have been sick with the flu for a few days, but I have much to be grateful for:

I don't have to leave the house to work
My daughter made me a nice letter
My son did the dishes for me
My husband gave me a back rub with Tiger Balm even though he is starting to get it
Ice cream for my sore throat
Laying in bed watching SciFi Friday with DH
In science class my son learned about this strain of the flu which knocked out tons of people in my city. And he found out exactly how this strain works, what the symptoms will be and when I will start to feel better.

My computer was going pretty wacky. My husband, who builds all of our computers, diagonosed the problem and I ended up with a new CPU with hyperthreading and motherboard. I had to save all my info from my computer. According to my brother-in-law, who worked at a computer place during college, who should reformat your computer about once a year anyway to clear out the useless files and orphaned data.

It's always a pain to do that. But, this time I wrote it all down. I wrote down what files to save, like the Quicken data file, Outlooks .pst file and Trillian's User file which aren't files I always think to save.

I went through my program files, writing down all the programs I wanted to use again, and where I could find them (i.e. downloaded, on CD, where on the internet, etc.) and any passwords or registration numbers.

After I saved everything I needed to and Jeff redid my system, it's now time to put everything back on. The system is fresh without tons of things on the desktop and in my bookmarks (*hint* you can save your bookmarks for free at www.mybookmarks.com). I'm about halfway done putting things back on my system. All this computer work is making me tired. I think I will turn in early today.

I am trying to bring more music into my life and discovered two new to me musicians.

I am adoring listening to Josh Grobin's Closer CD. That voice is gorgeous and transports me.

Barlow Girl's "Never Alone" is so moving and they can really sing.

It's not so much what you eat, but how you eat. In her book, French Women Don't Get Fat, Mireille Guiliano gives some lovely tips of how the French enjoy their food and learn to eat smaller portions of the best foods. Some of her hints:
~French women eat more fruits and vegetables and enjoy eating the best of the season
~French women don't eat sugar free, carb free, fat free, artificial processed foods
~French women eat with all their senses enjoying their food
~French women sometimes overdo it, but they know how to compensate the next day without beating themselves up - detours, not dead ends
~French women have meal time rituals - not eating on the run, in front of the TV, standing up
~French women don't watch much TV
~French women care about the presentation of food
~French women walk whenever they can
~French women avoid anything that demands too much effort for too little pleasure
~French women eat for pleasure

I have adored reading about the French way of eating for a number of years. Enjoyment instead of deprivation. What a concept!
