It's my kids first day of school today. I always like to make plans during this time. The school year seems like a new year to me. I have visions of fall in my head and the holiday season.

The Path of Delight

Taking delight in who you are, what you do, and what you have is the secret of personal power, satisfaction, and high-energy living.
Delight connects you with the beauty and power of the universe, with your Higher Power, with Divinity.
Delight means feeling and expressing the joy of life, rejoicing in the beauty and richness of being.

Delight is a powerful liberating force that frees your creativity, talents, abilities, and capacities.
Delight anchors you in the eternal now and lets you see the best of it.
Delight inspires hope.
Delight feeds the heart and nurtures the soul.
Delight brings zest into your life.
Delight makes you receptive and confident.
Delight is contagious; it is the greatest gift you can give to yourself and others.
The path of delight is there; it has always been there, waiting for you...

We had a great time this week doing some landscaping. I love taking an area that isn't looking great and transforming it! Now the area has flowers, edging, a fountain and a lovely mosaic birdbath. After my husband and I finished it, the kids joined us sitting on our chairs, viewing our accomplishment and talking about future plans.

This week has been a lot of getting the kids ready for school. We went to the different orientations, shopped, started soccer, rented a musical instrument. My son went to a pool party and my daughter went to the beach. My husband is going to be on second shift next week, so I have also been making up new schedules.

I've been browsing some financial sites today. Do you want to know what you really Make Per Hour. Here are some ideas to help you Save. Learn How to Feed a Family of 4 for $200 a Month. Here is a great Budget Calculator.

Yesterday we were in Detroit for family pictures when that big power outage occured. About 4:00 the air went off, and the water went off. So we decided to drive to my grandparents for some air before the pictures. It took us over an hour to go just a few miles. All the traffic lights were out and no one seemed to know that you are supposed to have a four way stop in that case. People were driving crazy and cutting people off.

When we finally got to my grandparents they let us know that power was off from there up until Niagra Falls where the power grid got hit by lightning or something like that. So no eating out since the restaurants didn’t have power. All the family slowly made it to my grandparents. We took pictures anyway-everyone was there we were all just a little “glistening.” It was so very hot and humid there. We grilled hamburgers for dinner and had a great time talking with family. I got to hear all about my cousins who are going to college.

We decided rather than stay the night in a sticky, hot house with no water for drinks or showers and no electricity we would drive the 2 ˝ hours home. We also didn’t really want to be in Detroit. People were worried about riots when they realize there are no security systems. As soon as we drove to Brighton (about 30 miles east of Lansing) we saw lights on again. Traffic was backed up with all the people trying to get off at the exit. We got to our nice, cool house a little while ago. It is half past midnight, so I am off to bed.

The experience really helped me see some things I took for granted.

am thankful for working stoplights

for police officers to help control things

for water that comes right out of the faucet

for window air conditioners when it is hot and sticky

for car air conditioners

for a family that can go with the flow

for grills to eat food

for fridges to keep food cold

for microwaves to warm food up

for lights to see at night

for safe travel home

for showers

Yesterday we went to the beach. It was a cloudy day so we had the beach almost all to ourselves.

I finally got my own domain. Check it out at Encouraging Coach I spent much of the past few days updating and moving.

Today the family went to the South Haven Blueberry Festival I had no idea there was blueberry wine, blueberry salsa or blueberry beef jerky. They put blueberries in just about anything. Most of the venders had samples to try. We were planning on going back to the beach, but we were rained out. That's ok, now it is a perfect time to clean the house!

We are working on the basement right now. Here are some sites I found on organizing the basement:

I love summer! When I got home from a meeting today I found my husband, my kids and their friend tossing around a splash ball- a ball you get wet then toss like a water balloon at someone. Everyone was giggling up a storm. Of course, Dad got big laughs when he got Mom!

I love photography. I ran across the 800x600 Project the other day. One subject, but a grid of pictures.
